Stocks and Precious Metals Charts - End of 2nd Quarter

"Imaginary evil is romantic and varied; real evil is gloomy, monotonous, barren, boring.  Imaginary good is boring; real good is always new, marvelous, intoxicating.

Human beings are so made that the ones who do the crushing feel nothing; it is the person crushed who feels what is happening.  Unless one has placed oneself on the side of the oppressed, to feel with them, one cannot understand.   As soon as men know that they can kill without fear of punishment or blame, they kill; or at least they encourage killers, with approving smiles.

Evil when we are in its power is not felt as evil, but as a necessity, or even a duty."

Simone Weil

"Having thus become a mindless tool, the foolish person will also be capable of any evil and at the same time incapable of seeing that it is evil.   This is where the danger of diabolical misuse lurks, for it is this that can once and for all destroy human beings.”

Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Letters and Papers From Prison

"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

Ephesians 6:12

The broader stock market managed to stage a snapback rally today.

The big cap story tech stocks gave up some ground.

The Dollar extended its price a little higher into the 92 handle.

Gold and silver both rallied back today.

Today was the end of the quarter, and the first half of the year.

Non-Farm Payrolls on Friday.

Have a pleasant evening.

Stocks and Precious Metals Charts - We're Having a Heat Wave - End of Quarter Painting the Tape

"For they flatter themselves in their own eyes, so that their own sins cannot be found out and repented. The words from their mouths are full of mischief and deceit; they have ceased to act wisely and to do any good."

Psalm 36:2-3

“If you shut up truth and bury it under the ground, it will but grow, and gather to itself such explosive power that the day it bursts through it will blow up everything in its way.”

Émile Zola

"You are the very cause of your ignorance, yourselves.  You put away the light, yourselves; you first pluck out both your own eyes, yourselves; and after that other men’s too, so that the blind may lead the blind, until you both fall into the pit.”

Thomas More, Utopia

Gold, silver, and the miners were hit hard this morning in an fairly heavy-handed bear raid.

The objective seems to be the usual paint that the funds apply to make their quarter end results look better

And we saw the opposite but similar effect in the widely played big cap techs.

Now that the Banks have passed their mostly self-serving and self-contrived 'stress tests' the Fed is going to allow them to start buying back their own stock to boost their price, and bonuses.

Non-Farm Payrolls report on Friday.

Have a pleasant evening.

Stocks and Precious Metals Charts - Markets Chopping with Uncertainty While Big Cap Tech Soars

"The glory of God is the human person, fully alive;  and the humanity of a person is in the beholding of the glory of God."

Irenaeus of Lyons

"Let us remember the poor, and not forget kindness to strangers; above all, let us love God with all our soul, and might, and strength, and our neighbor as ourselves. For no part of Creation is left void of Him: He has filled all things everywhere."

Athanasius of Alexandria

"Through our relationship with the Incarnation we recover our true humanity, and at the same time are delivered from that perverse individualism which is the consequence of sin, and recover our familiarity with all mankind."

Dietrich Bonhoeffer

"Isn't it a riddle and awe-inspiring that things can be so beautiful, despite the horror? I've seen something wondrous peering through my joy in the beautiful, a sense of its creator. Only people can be truly ugly, because they have free will to separate themselves from this song of praise. It often seems they will drown out this hymn with cannon thunder, curses, and blasphemy. But I have realized they will not succeed. And so I want to throw myself on the side of the victor.”

Sophie Scholl

The markets were skittish on concerns about the Covid variant sweeping the UK, and the usual suspects in the economic outlook.\

But in the afternoon Facebook won dismissal of two antitrust lawsuits, and that rang the bell for the tech giants.

Gold and silver closed sideways along with the dollar, despite an early attempt to knock them down.

The markets are looking forward to the Non-Farm Payrolls report on Friday with bated breath.

It was sweltering hot and humid here today, great for the garden, but not so much for the gardeners.

Have a pleasant evening.

Stocks and Precious Metals Charts - We Hope You Will Enjoy the Show - Non-Farm Payrolls Next Week

"Then the rich man said, ‘Please, Father Abraham, at least send Lazarus to my father’s home. For I have five brothers, and I want him to warn them so they don’t end up in this place of torment.’

But Abraham said, ‘Moses and the prophets have warned them. Your brothers can read what they wrote.’

The rich man replied, ‘No, Father Abraham! But if someone is sent to them from the dead, then they will repent of their sins and turn to God.’

But Abraham said, ‘If they won’t listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be persuaded, even if someone rises from the dead.’”

Luke 16:27-31

Stocks traded like it was a Friday in summer, with a lazy, lackluster action, weighed down a bit by the big cap techs.

Gold and silver were capped, again.

The Dollar chopped sideways under the 92 handle.

Next week will be the end of the second quarter.

The outlook will be cloudy with a chance of more shenanigans, and paint on the tape.

Complicating matters a bit will be a closely watched Non-Farm Payrolls report for June, on the start to the 4th of July holiday weekend.

Let's see what happens.

Have a pleasant weekend.
