Stocks and Precious Metals Charts - Deceiving and Being Deceived

"Not everyone who calls out to me, 'Lord! Lord!' will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven."

Matt 7:21

"This is the message that we heard from him and that we now give to you.  God is light, and there is no darkness in him.  If we say we have fellowship with him but continue to live in darkness, we are lying, and do not live in the truth."

1 John 1:5-6

"Beware the leaven of the Pharisees, which is a pious hypocrisy."

Luke 12:1

They do not see the image of Almighty God before them, and ask themselves what He wishes.  And, for the same reason that they do not please Him, they succeed in pleasing themselves. For that which falls so short of God’s law is just what they can fulfill; or rather they choose it, and keep to it, because they can fulfill it.  They rate their merit very high, and have no fear at all of any future scrutiny into their conduct which may befall them.

In the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, traitors, heady, high-minded having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof. Evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived."

John Henry Newman

"The kings of the world joined in her harlotry, and those who dwell in their lands are intoxicated by the the wine of her immorality.”

Revelation 7:2

Stocks wobbled around.

The spokesmodels had their 'new highs' pom-poms out today.

Maybe tomorrow or next week.

We have another Non-Farm Payrolls report with all its attendant drama coming up.

Yeah we're turning the page on this month, quarter, and the year.

I thought I would include a longer term US Dollar DX chart for those talking heads who expressed dismay that the Buck was reduced to nearly the 100 handle.

The Street people have the contextual awareness of goldfish.

Gold set a new all time high in London overnight.

Otherwise just more of the same.

The volume is so light and regulation so lax they can pretty much do what they want.

Among the numerous repugnant offenses of empire this year is the continuing persecution of the journalist, Julian Assange.

It reads like a bad movie script.

And the deprivation and murder of innocents in the name of peace and freedom.

Are you not entertained?

Have a pleasant evening.

Stocks and Precious Metals Charts - This Great Masquerade of Evil

“Behind the concrete, the visible events, behind all objective, logical considerations, we find the irrational element: the struggle against the demon, against the servants of the Antichrist.  Everywhere and always demonic powers lurk in the dark, waiting for the moment when man is weak; when he yields to the force of evil, he separates himself from the powers of a higher order; and after voluntarily taking the first step, he is driven on to the next and the next at a furiously accelerating rate."

The White Rose, Fourth Leaflet, Munich 1942

"What we would like to do is change the world— make it a little simpler for people to feed, clothe and shelter themselves as God intended them to do. And to a certain extent, by fighting for better conditions, by crying out unceasingly for the rights of the workers, of the poor, of the destitute— the rights of the worthy and the unworthy poor in other words, we can to a certain extent change the world; we can work for the oasis, the little cell of joy and peace in a harried world."

Dorothy Day, The Catholic Worker, June 1946

"Light has come into the world, and people love the darkness rather than light, because their deeds are evil."

John 3:19

"It seems that under the overwhelming impact of rising power, humans are deprived of their inner independence and, more or less consciously, give up establishing an autonomous position toward the emerging circumstances. This great masquerade of evil has played havoc with all our ethical concepts."

Dietrich Bonhoeffer

"Some day an absolutely correct verdict— if you like, a perfect critique— will be passed on what each of us is. We shall not only believe, we shall know, beyond doubt in every fibre of our appalled or delighted being, that as the Judge has said, so we are: neither more nor less nor other. We shall perhaps even realize that in some dim fashion we could have known it all along."

C. S. Lewis, The World's Last Night

Trading in the markets is so light, and the economic news so sparse and distorted, that trading here is just dominated by algorithmic shills.

Unless some exogenous event that has to be acknowledged by the financiers occurs, we might expect the rest of this holiday week to be roughly the same.

Maybe with a little wash and rinse action to keep the punters gambling.

Have a pleasant evening.

Stocks and Precious Metals Charts - At the Time of the Lord

"They have acted shamefully, committing abominations,
    yet they are not ashamed,
and do not even know how to blush.
Therefore they will fall among the fallen;
at the time I visit them they shall be brought down,
    says the Lord."

Jeremiah 6:15

"The difference between patriotism and nationalism is that the patriot is proud of his country for what it does, and the nationalist is proud of his country no matter what it does; the first attitude creates a feeling of responsibility, but the second a feeling of blind arrogance that leads to war."

Sydney J. Harris, Personal Prejudices, 1953

"Nemesis, the goddess of retribution and vengeance, the punisher of pride and hubris, waits impatiently for her meeting with us."

Chalmers Johnson, Nemesis: The Last Days of the American Republic, 2007

"Evil when we are in its power is not felt as evil, but as a necessity, or even a duty.  Human beings are so made that the ones who do the crushing feel nothing; it is the person crushed who feels what is happening.  As soon as men know that they can kill without fear of punishment or blame, they kill; or at least they encourage killers, with approving smiles."

Simone Weil, Gravity and Grace, 1947

“Religion used to be the opium of the people. To those suffering humiliation, pain, illness, and serfdom, religion promised the reward of an after life.

But now, we are witnessing a transformation: a true opium of the people is the belief in nothingness after death, the huge solace, the huge comfort of thinking that for our betrayals, our greed, our cowardice, our murders, we are not going to be judged.”

Czeslaw Milosz, Discreet Charm of Nihilism, NYRB Nov 1998

Trading is going to be very light this week, likely with an upward bias as we saw in the holiday trade last week, although we may very well see a back and forth action, as the wiseguys continue to reap the investment community and the real economy.

Gold is on the verge of breaking out.  It needs to take out 2080 and go for a run.

The Dollar continues to slump.

VIX remains complacent.  There is little provision being made for an exogenous black swan event, although the probability of one is elevated.   Risk assets are priced for perfection.

Consequences are rarely expected, and those that most deserve them experience the most intense outrage at having received them.

This is hubris, and its willful blindness.  It brings down the proud and the willful.

Be not deceived, for God is not mocked.  As men sow, so shall they reap.

Have a pleasant evening.
