"The message of the gospel is simple, clear, and straightforward. We are not things meant for the use and pleasure of another. We are all the children of God, made for joy, with all the life and fulfillment that it brings. So we are to love our neighbor as ourselves, in harmony with the love of God, whom we love above all in all. But the words of life that have been planted in our hearts are too often suffocated by the worries of the world or seduced by wealth." Jesse, 4 April 2023
"In the Incarnation the whole human race recovers the dignity of the image of God. Thereafter, any attack, even on the least of men, is an attack on Christ, who took on the form of man, and in his own Person restored the image of God in all. Through our relationship with the Incarnation, we recover our true humanity, and at the same time are delivered from that perverse individualism which is the consequence of sin, and recover our solidarity with all mankind."
Dietrich Bonhoeffer
"For
I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me no thing to
drink, a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you gave me no
clothing, sick and held in detention, and you did not care for me."
Matthew 25
'Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?
Acts 9:4
Remember to
feed the least of His creatures, the birds and animals. And bring
comfort and fellowship to the hearts of those you meet, with a kind word
and a smile. Each of us has our own burdens and troubles to carry.
And it is our duty and joy to lessen the troubles of others, out of
gratitude for His love of the unworthy, of us.
I remember all of you in my thoughts and prayers, as always, my brothers and sisters in the Lord. And I give thanks for you and your goodness. Let us commend ourselves to His merciful forgiveness, and trust our futures to His loving kindness and tender mercy. Let us permit ourselves to be fashioned to His will, not for His sake, but for ours.
Be kind to those who are around your table today, even those who may be 'difficult.'
And pray for His mercy and enlightenment, if that difficult one is you.
Do not wait for God to show you the horrors of your sinfulness and pride.
Need little - Want less - Love more. For those who abide in love abide in God, and God in them.
"Love does not make you weak, because it is the source of all strength—
but it makes you see the nothingness of the illusory strength on which
you depended before you knew it.
The only real tragedy, in the end, is not to be with the saints."
"Year by year the cost of living increases, and wages, if they move at all, move laggingly, and after desperate and embittered strife. Day by day the money-masters of America become more aware of their danger, they draw together, they grow more class-conscious, more aggressive. The [first world] war has taught them the possibilities of propaganda; it has accustomed them to the idea of enormous campaigns which sway the minds of millions and make them pliable to any purpose.
American political corruption was the buying up of legislatures and assemblies to keep them from doing the people's will and protecting the people's interests; it was the exploiter entrenching himself in power, it was financial autocracy undermining and destroying political democracy."
Upton Sinclair, The Brass Check
“Booms start with some tie-in to reality, some reason which justifies the increase in asset values, and then -- and this is the critical feature of speculative mood -- the market loses touch with reality.”
John Kenneth Galbraith
"I will be your God, unchanging, throughout your life—
until you are old, and your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will sustain you and save you."
Isaiah 46:4

"Do all without constant arguing and complaining, so that you may be blameless and righteous as children of God, unlike those of this contentious and perverse generation, so that among them you may shine like lights to the world, as you hold firmly to the words of life."
Phil 2:14-16
Stocks were on a tear higher today, as all thoughts of risk evaporated in the euphoria of a settled national election and the beginning of the end for Covid.
You don't have to feel or be good to look good, and darling, you look marvelous.
Gold and silver were smacked again soundly for the Comex option expiration.

And the selection and prices!
I became interested in these old Thanksgiving menus when I found an old menu in my dad's collection of memorabilia from aboard a ship in the Pacific for Thanksgiving 1944.
The New York Public Library maintains an impressive collection of old menus.
Some day our children's children may look back on the menus from our day with similar nostalgia and wonder.
Let us pray for those whose hearts are hardened against His grace and loving kindness by greed, fear, and pride, and the seductive illusion and crushing isolation of evil.
We pray that we all may experience the three great gifts of our Lord's suffering and triumph: repentance, forgiveness, and thankfulness. And in so doing, may we obtain abundant life, and with it the peace that surpasses all understanding.
