Stocks and Precious Metals Charts - Hi Yo Silver!

"Unapologetic in its implementation of austerity measures that cause massive amounts of human hardship and suffering, neoliberal capitalism consolidates class power on the backs of young people, workers, and others marginalized by class, race, and ethnicity.  Neoliberal capitalism appears to no longer need the legitimacy garnered through its false claim to democratic ideals such as free speech, individual liberty, or justice—however tepid these appeals have always been.

In this widely accepted, yet dystopian world view, collective misfortune is no longer interpreted as a sign of failing governance or the tawdry willingness of politicians to serve corporate interests, but attributed to the character flaws of individuals and defined chiefly as a matter of personal responsibility. In fact, government-provided social protections are viewed as pathological.

As corporate power is consolidated into fewer and fewer hands, ideological and structural reforms are implemented to transfer wealth and income into the hands of a ruling financial and corporate elite."

Henry Giroux, Days of Rage: The Quebec Student Protest Movement, August 28, 2012

"It is sometimes said that since everything is for sale under the rule of The Market, nothing is sacred. The Market is not omnipotent— yet. But the process is under way and it is gaining momentum."

Harvey Cox, The Market as God, March 1999

"I know from a good friend who was there when it happened, that at a small dinner with progressive supporters – after these progressive supporters were banging on Obama before the election, 'why don’t you do the things we thought you stood for?'  Obama turned sharply and said, 'Don’t you remember what happened to Martin Luther King Jr.?'   That’s a quote, and that’s a very revealing quote."

Ray McGovern, former CIA analyst

"We suspect strongly that history will view the last 20 years as a period of collective madness in the United States. It is a madness brought on by the gods to the proud and those who would be as gods, but stumble and fall through a tragic flaw, an error in judgement. Often that flaw is related to the strength that had made them great. The US can fall from greatness through pride and imbalanced judgement, and therein lies the recipe for tragedy."

Jesse, 15 April 2008

The US Consumer Price Index data came in lighter than expected this morning.

And stocks and precious metals were off to the races.

The Dollar got hammered.

Silver in particular was impressive in its turnaround from the recent price decline it had taken for the Comex option expiration and Non-Farm Payrolls boogie woogie.

Wash, rinse, repeat.

Earnings are going to start coming in, perhaps with a dose of reality.

Have a pleasant evening.

Stocks and Precious Metals Charts - De Signification Métaphorique

"He has shown us what is good. The Lord asks that we do what is right, love with kindness and mercy, and walk humbly with our God."

Micah 6:8

"From top to bottom of the ladder, greed is aroused without knowing where to find a comfortable foothold. Nothing can calm it, since its goal is far beyond all it can attain. Reality seems valueless by comparison with the dreams of fevered imaginations; reality is therefore abandoned."

Emile Durkheim

"What is offensive is that they lie, and worship their own lying."

Fyodor Dostoevsky, Crime and Punishment

”Quand on enferme la vérité sous terre, elle s'y amasse, elle y prend une force telle d'explosion, que, le jour où elle éclate, elle fait tout sauter avec elle.”

When the truth is buried under the ground, it grows there, and gathers to itself such an explosive force that, the day it bursts, it blows up everything with it.

Émile François Zola

Stocks were languishing most of the day, but managed to turn around and rally into the close.

The markets were cheered by Microsoft's green light to acquire Activision.

The Dollar continued to slump.

Gold moved higher, but silver was not able to turn around with equities and slumped into the close.

Consumer inflation data on deck for tomorrow morning.

Politics in America has become almost senseless in a cacophony of shameless, partisan lies.

It is driven by greed, a cynical lust for power, and is becoming infectious.

Lying is rising to the level of art form amongst the elite and their blindly stumbling, mumbling true believers.

And this is how the Republic is drawn down a dark alley, and strangled by its shepherds.

Have a pleasant evening.

Stocks and Precious Metals Charts - Your House Is Made Desolate

"Sin has many tools, but a lie is the handle which fits them all."

Edmund Burke

"You who make wicked judgements, who write oppressive laws to deprive the needy of justice, and to rob the poor of their rights, that widows may be your victims, and that you may make the orphans your prey— what will you do on the day of reckoning, when the consequences come from afar?  To whom will you run for protection, and where will you hide your riches?"

Isaiah 10:1-3

"They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will refuse the grace that could make them righteous."

2 Timothy 3:3-5

"The market ideology is now the new form of imperial power and many of us, without any critical reflection, have signed onto that and organized our lives."

Walter Brueggemann, Truth Speaks to Power

"No one can serve two masters, for he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one, and be neglectful of the other. You cannot serve both God and mammon.' The Pharisees, who were money loving and covetous, heard all these things and sneered at him. And Jesus said, 'You justify yourselves in the sight of others, but God knows your hearts.'"

Luke 16:13-14

Stocks did a churn and burn today, rotating around the opening and finished with little change.

The Dollar continued to slide.

VIX rose.

Gold and silver did an intraday wash and rinse.

Earnings season is coming.

A rebalancing of the Nasdaq 100 will occur around the 21st-24th.

Have a pleasant evening.

Mes Amis du Café - Today, if you hear His voice, harden not your hearts.

"What we give to the poor, for Christ's sake, is what we carry with us when we die."

Peter Maurin

Need little, want less, love more.  For those who abide in love abide in God, and God in them.

"What we would like to do is change the world — make it a little simpler for people to feed, clothe, and shelter themselves as God intended them to do.  We can throw our pebble in the pond and be confident that its ever widening circle will reach around the world."

Dorothy Day

“People are often unreasonable and self-centered.  Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives.   Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you.   Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous.  Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow.  Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough.  Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God.
It was never between you and them anyway.”

Mother Teresa

"De loin en loin, elle vient jeter dans l’âme du profond artiste un peu de sa paix, de sa grandeur mystérieuse, puis elle retourne à sa solitude immense, au milieu des rues pleines de peuple.

Il n’y a qu’une tristesse, lui a-t-elle dit, la dernière fois, c’est de n’être pas de saints."

Léon Bloy, La femme pauvre
