Thanksgiving Day - Repentance, Forgiveness, Thankfulness

"Show me your ways, O Lord, and teach me your paths.   Lead me in your truth, and teach me: for you are the God of my salvation; and I wait for you all the day.   Remember, O Lord, your tender mercies and loving kindness, as they have ever been of old."

Psalm 25:4-6

"Rejoice in the Lord always; and again I will say, rejoice; show patience and consideration to all, for the Lord is always near.  Let nothing make you anxious; but with prayer, and by supplication, and with thanksgiving, let your needs be made known unto God; and the peace of the Lord, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds, in Christ Jesus."

Philippians 4:4-7

“God has created me to do Him some definite service. He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another.  I have my mission. I may never know it in this life, but I shall be told it in the next.  I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection between persons.  He has not created me for naught.  I shall do good; I shall do His work. I shall be an angel of peace, a preacher of truth in my own place, while not intending it if I do but keep His commandments.

Therefore, I will trust Him, whatever I am, I can never be thrown away.  If I am in sickness, my sickness may serve Him, in perplexity, my perplexity may serve Him.  If I am in sorrow, my sorrow may serve Him. He does nothing in vain. He knows what He is about.  He may take away my friends. He may throw me among strangers.   He may make me feel desolate, make my spirits sink, hide my future from me. Still, He knows what He is about.”

John Henry Newman

"Rejoice in the Lord always; and again I say, rejoice. Let your gentleness and consideration be known to all, for the Lord is always near. Do not be anxious about anything. But with prayer, and by supplication, and with thanksgiving, let your needs be made known unto God. And the peace of the Lord, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds, in Christ Jesus."

Philippians 4:4-7

"Remember us, O Lord, in thy loving kindness and tender mercies, as ever they have been from old."

Psalm 25:6

Remember to feed the least of His creatures, the birds and animals.  And bring comfort and fellowship to the hearts of those you meet, with a kind word and a smile.  Each of us has our own burdens and troubles to carry.

And it is our duty and joy to lessen the troubles of others, out of gratitude for His love of the unworthy, of us.  I remember all of you in my thoughts and prayers, as always, my brothers and sisters in the Lord.

And I give thanks for you and your goodness.

Let us commend ourselves to His merciful forgiveness, and trust our futures to His loving kindness and tender mercy.  Let us permit ourselves to be fashioned to His will, not for His sake, but for ours.

Be kind to those who are around your table today, even those who may be 'difficult.'

And pray for His mercy and enlightenment, if that difficult one is you.

Do not wait for God to show you the consequences of your sinfulness and pride.

Need little - Want less - Love more.

For those who abide in love abide in God, and God in them.

Stocks and Precious Metals Charts - Weighed, and Found Wanting

“You may keep your gifts, or give your presents to someone else; but the writing I will read for you, O king, and tell you what it means.  You have rebelled against the Lord of heaven. By Him were the wrist and hand sent, and the writing set down.

This is the writing that was inscribed:  MENE, God has numbered your kingdom and put an end to it;  TEKEL, you have been weighed on the scales and found wanting;  PERES, your kingdom has been divided and given to foreign nations.”

Daniel 5:17-28

"They have become foolish in their reasoning, and their senseless minds are darkened."

Romans 1:21

"God has a way of standing before the nations with justice, and it seems I can hear God saying to America 'you are too arrogant.   And if you don't change your ways, I will rise up and break the backbone of your power, and I will place it in the hands of a nation that doesn't even know my name.  Be still and know that I'm God.'"

Martin Luther King

“Behold, your house is now yours, but is made desolate."

Matthew 23:39

Stocks were under pressure all day, but managed to stage another miraculous comeback in the very quiet afternoon trading to finish in the green.

Gold and silver were similarly under some pressure most of the day, but finished back to about unchanged.

The VIX drifted a bit lower, below its moving averages.

The Dollar rallied again today finished in the high end of the 96 handle.

US markets will be closed tomorrow in observance of the national Thanksgiving holiday.

They will reopen on Friday for a short session.   Most of the adults will be on vacation.

Have a pleasant evening.

Thanksgiving Menus from Days Gone By

"May we all unite in rendering unto God our sincere and humble thanks—

     • For His kind care and protection of the people of this country,

     • For the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have enjoyed,

     • For the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness,

     • For the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge, and in general for all the great and various favors which He hath been pleased to confer upon us.

And may we also unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him—

     • To pardon our national and other transgressions,

     • To enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually,

     • To render our national government a blessing to all the people, by constantly being a government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed,

     • To protect and guide all nations and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord,

     • To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science,

And generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best."

George Washington, Thanksgiving Proclamation, 3 October 1789

And for the three greatest gifts given freely out of love:  repentance, forgiveness, and thankfulness.

Enjoy.
